NED means no evidence of disease. The term debulking is used for hysterectomy. Hope this helps.

Debulking is literally taking out all visible cancer- so it can include ovaries tubes and womb but also other organs such as the appendix and omentum (fatty layer that covers the abdominal organs). If they manage to remove everything visible it’s known as optimal debulking.

Sorry about all the acronyms but please do ask if you come across anything you don’t know xx

Hi there, I'm with you when it comes to the short cuts. I know what NED is now but there's a lot of other terms I haven't a clue about and I've been on here for years.

Best of wishes to you. x

Hi,

“No evidence of disease” or, NED, is a term I use frequently, meaning there is no evidence of visible or detectable disease at the moment.

And yes debulking mean hesteretomy.

just to add Lyndy is correct, debulking isn’t a hysterectomy, it’s removing visible disease wherever it is, which normally includes a hysterectomy X

Sure. NED means No Evidence of Disease. A term we all love to hear. Debulking surgery is removal of visible tumors, and cancerous tissue, as much as possible, prior to other interventional treatment, such as chemo or radiation.
