tks Lind58. I am going to be treated as being HRD positive by my new oncologist even though I haven't had the test. I'm BRACA 1/2 neg. I have just being told it's active again so this is my second recurrence. Tks for your good wishes.

It can definately be done. After my debulking op in January 2022 they went back to my original biopsy taken for diagnosis in May 2021 to analyse and discover that it is HRD positive. It can only be done with a good enough tissue sample. I have no idea on cost because this was done on the NHS because their protocols had recently changed.

thanks Morning. Being BRACA neg I feel it's important to know if I'm HRD positive. My new oncologist is a breath of fresh air and has restored my confidence big time. I can look into getting the test done in England. Again tks for your information.

I’m not sure about the BRCA testing but my understanding is that the HRD testing done through the NHS is sent to a single lab in Utah who have the patents. In Mums case it was done and came back positive but I’m not sure what the decision making process was that resulted in it being done; we certainly had to ask multiple times and it was only done when Mum had finished first line Chemo and surgery. I agree it is important for guiding treatment and your own peace of mind. Perhaps contact a tertiary centre like The Marsden or Christies and see what they have to say. Best wishes.

I had surgery private but back to nhs oncologist for the rest of treatment and she said they needed my tumour biopsies for hrd so I spoke with private surgeon and she said it costs around £1k but the nhs oncologist coul request it for free if that's any help? I had surgery with professor Fotopoulou she's an angel I swear!

Tks Newbury, what hospital is Prof Fotopoulou attached to??. It's a relief to know it can be done. I'm going to be treated as being HRD positive by my new oncologist as he feels I responded very well to Niraparib. Starting Carbol/Taxol next week.
