CA125 up during treatment

Having my 5th cycle of caelyx and carboplatin. Just been given my most recent CA125 results. 3rd cycle I was 356, 4th cycle down to 85 and now back up to 185. I'm panicking now, don't want to worry but can't help it!

Hi Marie101, it’s always a worry when your ca125 won’t behave itself. But it clearly has fallen on the chemo, so perhaps there’s something else going on? An infection or illness? A covid jab? If you can, hold tight and have a word with your oncologist…. Presumably they will want to find out what is going on before they give you more chemo?

Best of luck with it… I will have my fingers crossed for you that it is a bit of inflammation somewhere and is soon resolved xx

Caelyx is known quite often to cause CA125 to rise before it goes down. It seems to be connected with releasing the CA125 (which is a protein) from the unhealthy cells as they are zapped. Definitely speak to your oncologist and find out what s/he thinks. Sending hugs.
