Hi I’m looking for a bit of advice , I have an adnexal cyst which ultrasound showed as being 7cm but MRI showed it was 3cm so discharged with repeat scan next year , however following a routine MRI under rheumatologist showed the cyst had increased in size to 5cm , should I be worried, my ca125 last year was 13 - I’ve done another just now awaiting results . I have the lower back pain , bloating and pressure/ache in the groin area of that same side which radiates to the top of my thigh , any advice would be appreciated, unsure of what to do next , Cath

Hi Cath,
It really depends on what your cyst looks like on the scans. Most cysts are benign and are only removed when they increase to a size that is causing pain/problems. Cysts that contain solid parts, particularly those with their own blood supply, are more suspicious.
With larger cysts, it's not uncommon for there to be accompanying symptoms such as pain that radiates to the thigh, etc. I'd suggest having another chat to your doctor, and if you're not satisfied with their advice, pursuing additional investigation.
Good luck with everything!

I also want to encourage you not to drop this. Maybe ask for a CT scan? That’s what most of us get to check for recurrences. I’m not sure which scan shows more detail. Many of us struggled to get diagnosed. It took me a year of going to gp, gastroenterologist, and finally gynecologist. I try not to dwell on how much more limited my cancer might have been a year earlier.
