A healthy diet, etc....

I would like to compile a diet and supplement list, (for my personal use) which is aimed at ovarian cancer only. I am doing a lot or research, but it is very confusing. Therefore, I would be grateful for personal opinions and experience of particular foods or supplements which others have found helpful. (I don't expect any scientific data or medical opinions, I will look into that.) Many thanks.

When I asked my onc what I should eat, he replied "whatever you can". Truth is that food doesn't taste the same. I was very lucky as my hubby likes to cook. He'd say "do you fancy … for tea?" I'd say "well I don't know, I don't really fancy anything". Bless him, he'd say "well I'll make it & see how you go". I almost always ate it. If it's put in front of you, it's so much easier than having to make it yourself. If I had to make it myself, I'd have probably made batches of soups & frozen them. The least time & effort is all you can be bothered with for quite a bit of the time. Sorry this isn't much help. I suppose we should all be looking at the Mediterranean diet. Best wishes. Pauline.

If I was left to my own devices I would live on crackers and cheese and Fondant Fancies. Fortunately my bloke is a much better chef than Mr Kipling, we use a recipe delivery service for some of our meals called Gusto, so we eat really well, he seems to enjoy the cooking and I am well fed. Other days are done by him too, but not always quite so adventurously. I’ve always had a sweet tooth and a propensity for cake and wine but haven’t eaten meat for 34 years; when I was diagnosed I felt that changing my diet drastically would make me miserable and probably wouldn’t change the outcome of my diagnosis in the end, so I eat what I want within reason, try to keep active - not easy right now and try to never feel guilty if I’ve overdone it.

This is just how I’ve managed my disease - we all have to find out own path through it. Love and best wishes to all, Ali x
