Morning all,

I’m off to see my consultant today to find out how much higher my CA125 has gone, but am on the second day of another migraine so I feel ghastly - I’m wondering whether to stop the Avastin as I’m concerned that it may be contributing to the migraine. Any thoughts?

I had migraines brought on with Avastin and they gave me propranolol which helped a little. My blood pressure shot up suddenly two years later so to counteract this, they put me on Felodipine and I haven't had a migraine for 10 months now (a wonderful side effect).

Hope they sort it soon.

Thank you for that Sandra - I really don’t want to stop the Avastin, I’ve only got three more doses to go, but the CA125 and scan in the next couple of weeks may mean I’m recurring and need to go back on chemo. My blood pressure is still ok - higher than it used to be, but not too high for Avastin.

I’ll ask my consultant obviously. I have Sumatriptan to take, but it makes me feel really weak for hours after I’ve taken it so I avoid it unless I can afford to spend the day doing nothing - I’ve got a riding lesson today and I’m not missing that!!

Best wishes, Ali x

Hi Vicki,

I saw a new doctor today who was eager to answer all my questions. He was the first person to tell me how big my residual tumours are (not very!) and was happy for me to continue having the Avastin - only three more to go. My CA125 has gone down by about 8, so it is now under 200 - I know there can be anomalies in the testing so it’s nothing to get excited about, but I would have been a bit annoyed of it had gone up!

I had a fabulous riding lesson in the Autumn sunshine and feel more positive as the migraine has gone too (I’m going to thank the acupuncture for that!). I’ve seen my grandboy Max and am going dancing tonight - note to self: don’t have too much wine.

I hope all is well with you and all the other ladies here too.

Love Ali x

Enjoy dancing! I don't have much musical rhythm so the only time I dance is when I have had too much wine!

We didn't have any Autumn sunshine here in East Sussex today, but we did on Monday when I went riding. I'd forgotten how cold my hands and feet get in the Winter with the Taxol as they become increasingly numb. Next week I'll remember my hand and foot warmers.

I've started asking for a copy of my scan reports (not the actual scan that would be meaningless to me) as I find that not all information is given. For instance, my first recurrence is only in the lymph nodes, initially I was told the para-aortic nodes. All subsequent discussions (I was on a trial so had frequent scans) were purely how some of the nodes had stayed the same, some disappeared, some reduced in size and eventually some had starting to grow albeit marginally. On asking for a copy of one of the reports it turned out that that some of these nodes were far away from the para-aortic nodes, one under my collar bone for instance. I think that no-one really knows what you've been told rather than it's deliberate withholding of information.

I've never had migraine but my Sister has suffered all her adult life. It can be so debilitating, so glad you've got that sorted out.

All the best!

Hmm I think I’ll ask for the scan reports - I would be interested in seeing the actual scans although I wouldn’t be able to interpret them. They wouldn't video my operation for me - probably for the best!!

Hope the sunshine comes your way soon x

I have difficulty in seeing a foetus in a copy of an ultrasound scan. Have a look on line at some CT-scan pictures, there are some of ovarian cancers. Think it needs years of study to make sense of it all.

I’ve never suffered from migraine but my hairdresser has for ever and has not had a week free without taking the meds for over 30 years. She came across a book which recommended ginger and since she’s been following the tip she has not had to take the meds (several months now) and migraines have been less severe. I don’t know the author or title but expect a google search would turn up more.

Hope this is helpful x
