I use melatonin nightly and I really like it. I sleep very well and feel refreshed in the morning.
I've been sent into surgical menopause but I don't really have any symptoms. Occasionally I feel a little warm but that's it. Maybe it's to do with the melatonin.
Interesting.......
thanks for posting
that's what I was reading from it too helps with falling hormone etc that causes so much havoc in post menopause hence I am going to start melatonin nightly....
Hi Bibs73 and other ladies,
Can I ask where you get Melatonin from?
Thanks.
Gwen
I buy mine when I go on holiday to America, you can buy it there over the counter. Here your GP can prescribe it if you have an accommodating GP.
This is very interesting although, as having a late menopause is a risk factor for ovarian cancer, delaying the menopause might not be a good idea?
I did ask both my oncologists and neither had any issues with me taking it. In fact google melatonin and cancer and there's increasing evidence that it helps. There's quite a lot of articles of oestrogen positive breast cancer doing particularly well with melatonin, it blocks the oestrogen receptors or something.
It's interesting but what occurs to me is that our natural production of melatonin is being suppressed due to light pollution. Round me there are several houses that have their outdoor lights on all night, in addition to adequate street lighting. Some of them point upwards - what's that for? We need darkness to recuperate during sleep. I read somewhere years ago that blind women half a lot less likelihood of breast cancer. I think more research will enhance the importance of this and not just for melatonin production.
