Neuropathy in fingers

Hi, could anyone suggest what type of garlic and ginger is best for cooking. I try to use fresh but due to fingers being extra sensitive, find it difficult to grate and squeeze. I have looked at alternative types and would like to know which one would give the most benefits which are very similar to fresh. Many thanks in advance.

Hello.  Don't know about the ginger since it doesn't come pealed but the garlic, you can purchase already pealed then put it in a food processor. I do not have neuropathy.  On this site for my mom.  Call it for laziness sake or simply saving time, it's just easier for me. I also out the ginger and turmeric in there. Ginger skin is not unhealthy for you and neither is tuneric, though I know some people peel it.

Is it the skin that's sensitive?

I have that issue cutting up chillies, so I started wearing disposable gloves when I cut them up. (I always use powder free gloves, the powder can get in food.)

Personally, I tend to go for jarred garlic and ginger because I'm a tad lazy. I know the minced garlic doesn't have as many anti oxidants in it, but apparently mince ginger keeps it's properties even when minced/ground.

Thankyou so much. The fingers are quite numb so inclined to scrape my fingers when trying to prepare garlic and ginger. The feelings nin my finger tips is very poor so I often drop the ginger or garlic.

I do that without the numbness... haha

What about the arthritis kitchen tools?

arthritissupplies.com/easi-...

(No idea how the carrot is meant to stay there... Chopping board with nails to hold it?)

arthritissupplies.com/multi...

Or a rotary grater (which I now want... lol)

Or this one will help with the dropping things as well

pamperedchef.com/shop/Cook'...

(That link will need to be copied and pasted because of the stupid apostrophe.)

Thankyou so much. I did not know about the athritic utensils and will look into all your suggestions. It is annoying isn't it continually dropping things.

It can be awkward cutting ginger root at the best of times.  I use it for juicing I have also bought some powdered ginger.  I still find my hands get clumsy with simple things such as tying my watch.  But it will get better with time
