Anyone in taxol, elesclomol study for platinum ... - My Ovacome
Anyone in taxol, elesclomol study for platinum resistant ovarian stage 3c, if so how is it going? Any long term survivors out there?
Sorry not me but lots of things can be done to give you a long remission never give up, have you read about immunatheraphy great hopes for all cancers I understand results so good should be available with in months rather than years. Lots of love Jenny xxx
Sorry, can't help you on both counts. I was diagnosed in June 13 with 3b. Completed first line carbo/taxol Dec 13.
Hope this goes well for you. Let us know how its going. Ann xo
Yes, I was on Taxol with Avastin for 11 months. Worked well but recurrence has just started again so have had to change to Topotecan, so just praying that will keep me going for another year as it is probably my last drug. Been on all the others. I am 4 years after Stage 3c diagnosis. Platinum refractory as only managed 4 months after front line treatment but have done pretty well surprisingly on these other drugs.
Taxol low dose weekly suited me well with no real side affects. I eventually have a little numbness in my toes but it is not much and only started after about 10 months.
Good luck, you will be fine let me know how you get on.
Hi, and first let me tell you that I am in the United States, so our access to drugs is probably a little easier than yours. I have been on straight Taxol now for two years. I had been on a combination of others for over 4 years and then went on straight taxol. The results have been great. I still have OC, but am managing it well now for over 9 years. The taxol has really brought my CA 125 down to almost normal. I was in a very late stage when diagnosed and surgery i n early 2005, have lost my hair 4 times, but am truly winning the fight with a very normal existence. I did lose my hair again when I started on the straight taxol, but within 6 months it started coming back in. Now have normal hair. Remission is something that is kind of dubious, it seems the cancer is always hiding, but with proper management, I am sure I'll have many more years. My Dr. is even thinking of taking me off of even the taxol. It has done me well...but have also been taking a pill...Femara...which is an estrogen suppressor. That may have helped a lot too. So, go on taxol and live a long, long time.
Hi. I am also platinum resistant. But sorry, I'm not on the same study as you. I'm expecting to go on weekly taxol soon, possibly with a phase 1 trial drug, AZD 2014
