My daughter Jaci has had O /C for about two and a half years and it keeps coming back. She is about to start on topotecan any one had
I was one of the lucky ones, I have been clear of disease since chemo - actually midway thru chemo myCA125 stabilised and it's stayed the same since. But I have read of many women who have had a number of courses of chemo, some of them do go on to experience NED (no evidence of disease) at some point. Remission is a rarely used term in ovarian cancer, because the disease can return at any stage. I hope topotecan works - and there are new treatments and combination treatments being developed all the time. Your daughter can always ask for a second opinion. Best wishes, Vxxx
Just for the record, I am now in year 10 after having metatastic OC--like many of you, surgery, remission, re occurrance , 6 or 7 different chemosand now just cruising along on a chemo maintenence--plan on at least another 10.
Thanks for your reply.what is a chemo maintenance plan? I am desperate for any help.happy new year
It is just a chemo regemin, finding the best chemo to keep the ca 125 relatively steady. I go every 7 to 14 days (forever). I still have cancer, but my CA 125 stays in the 30-40 range, with occasional spikes due to whatever is going on, ie: fluid in my stomach or my lungs ( the cancer) then we go in and drain them. CA then stays stable because we are releasing some of the cells.
I am so happy with your answer, how wonderful that you are able to keep the CA125 in check. we shall see how things go next Monday.I feel much more reassured. seren18
