The American Bone Health HealthUnlocked community will be closing on November 7. For further online support, please join the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) online support community. With over 80,000 members, the BHOF online support community, hosted by Inspire, is very similar to HealthUnlocked in that it also offers a peer-to-peer support network where patients, care partners, and health advocates can meet others, ask questions and share information about osteoporosis and bone health. Learn more and join at bonehealthandosteoporosis.o....

Hello, is there a reason why this online community will be closing on 10/31/23?

and with such short notice. That gives little time to reach out to some who I wish to stay connected with, because we are pursuing similar treatments.

It is a real shame that this forum is closing because I have posted to that other website and RARELY get a response from anyone. It is quite useless to me, and I am very disappointed that this one will be closing down.

You can still private message through Chat to make connections. It's not HU which is closing!

Actually I just discovered it wasn't such short notice at all, although I didnt really pay attention to the implications:

Why are you closing? Please give an explanation. I am just starting on this journey needing to get all the information I can before making a decision. I was prescribed Boniva as I have more bone loss in spine than hips. Does anyone know what forum to join to get good info?

Can I recommend the Health Unlocked Bone Health forum. It's UK based, loosely connected to the Royal Osteoporosis Society, but open to all, no matter where in the world you live. As it's part of Health Unlocked, you won't have to sign up to another separate organisation.

Oh goodness, thank you!

I was feeling really sad about this forum shutdown.

Hope you will be participating there, Met00!

I'm already a member. It's a good group, but I live in the UK so maybe I'm biased 🙂

Could someone in the UK please post the link right now so we in the US don’t miss our? This is an excellent group. It’s so easy to talk to each other and give advice and receive help. I will miss It.

I've heard a lot of disappointed reactions about the consolidation of this American Bone Health sponsored group with the Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation community.

Several alternatives have been suggested. Here is another one.

If everyone who is active in this group moves to the BHOF community and continues to be active, we could keep these discussions going on that site.

If that doesn't provide the info you need, then the UK group remains an option.

My former manager once said, "if you are on a committee and don't like the way it's going, take it over!"

I wonder whether those of us who are already members of Bone Health will want to join a different American forum?

I am a member of both OP forums here. I used to be a member years ago of Inspire before joining HU. I am perfectly happy staying only with BoneHealth but then I live in the UK.

Could you possibly send the link to the British site? Thank you so much for your reply

Could an administrator please answer why you are closing an active group with over 3000 members??

Probably a lack of funds or lack of persons willing/able to moderate? I'm an "ambassador" and this is the first Ive heard of it too. :(

Just saw this. Will the posts still be available to view, or will it all vanish?
