Pantoprazole

I'm on Pantoprazole 40mg daily . Dr recommends I take for another couple of month's. I have been on PPI for 18 months now. Anyone else stop these and how did you get on.

Hello, I have been on Omeprazole, which is similar, for about 5 years for Gastritis and Acid Reflux. I managed to get down from 20mg a day to 10mg a day. I tried to stop them but the acid rebound was terrible so I had to go back on them. I think the trick is to do it gradually. You could try taking a 20mg at lunchtime and see how you get on. Gaviscon Advance helps as well, especially before bed. Good luck.

Hi Annie I’m on pantoprazole 20mgs too. GP said to take them when and if needed so that I can go several days now in between doses.

Hello. I am new here this morning. I’ve managed to get off of omeprazole 20mg a day for 10 plus years using a good probiotic tablet daily, yakult daily, yoghurt after each meal and initially, cutting out trigger foods. Now free of ppi but of course reflux remains. Looking now for a way to manage my condition and avoiding damage to my esophogus.

Hi I'm trying to get off Omeprazole at the moment. While Omeprazole helped me at first lately I don't think its making any difference. I hate taking meds as sometimes they just cause another problem. I am trying to deal with the reflux with diet and probiotics. I think all my trouble was caused by taking antibiotics. Before that I had a brilliant digestive system and could eat and drink anything. I'm hoping if I give my body the chance it can sort this out itself.

I have had indigestion and occasional acid reflux that goes within 24 hours when I avoid trigger foods . However, I had acid reflux and heartburn with burping fir 8 days so the dr prescribed Pantoprazole. I am on day 5 and avoiding all triggers but as before everything is the same even water burps and comes back up. The med is giving me headaches, dizzy spells and constipation.I don’t want to take it .
