Just wondering at what point you started making practical preparations for baby's arrival? I'm now 17 weeks pregnant and haven't done anything yet other than go to my appointments and signed up for pregnancy yoga! Also started looking at antenatal classes, but didn't get very far...
When did you start preparing and what did you do first? What are your must dos and must haves before baby's arrival? What do you think about babymoons and baby showers?
Firstly, congrats! It’s life changing and such an amazing journey.
My advice,
Don’t over shop on clothes. My sons 9 months old and I spent too much on clothes, although I got a lot 2nd hand. He barely wore much at all.
Think cleverly also about seasons and how old baby will be and what they’ll be wearing. I completely forgot.
I went out and brought things I didn’t need or use, such as steriliser (I’m breastfeeding and didn’t even think of this til my son came out!), I also brought way too many musical toys/white noise devices and endless baby bath products when I use none on my son at all.
I found useful,
Snacks for when you need to eat in the early days, baby sleeping bags, lots of muslins, clothes you don’t mind poonamis in for baby, I found very useful 2 changing mats(1 for upstairs and 1 for downstairs)
I didn’t start to do anything for ages. I slowly started getting clothes at 20 weeks pregnant, then getting odd bits here and there such as my steriliser, thermometer, muslins, sleeping bags, stocking up on nappies + wet wipes I did a couple of times every month. I didn’t need to buy any nappies for ages (god send when you’re on maternity also.
I also painted and put together the nursery at 8&a half months pregnant and I’m glad I did as I would never get round to it.

Congratulations. I agree with what everyone has said. We got the two changing mats. We were super organized people we literally waited until our 12 week scan had been done that fell on 28th December so we decided that the January sales would be a good time and we literally brought Babies R us. By February we had all the essential stuff. We didn't buy many clothes even when we found out it was a girl I didn't trust them so just brought white baby grows. Facebook for secondhand babygrows as they are great as you dont really mind if they get ruined and they are cheaper and you will probably go thtought alot. We even brought the stair gates 🙈 (this was mainly to them going under) muslins are the thing we went through and wish we had brought more. We grab nappies and wipes every weekly shop so it didnt feel too expensive we always brought different sizes too so we were ready. But be careful we brought so much that our little one was actually a small baby so had to go buy size 0 which meant we were left with a lot of 1,2 so don't go as crazy as us lol. Depending on your situation and how your getting home from hostipal you need a car seat obviously you have a way to go but it's good to look into them now same with the pram. To me it was nice that we had everything early so we could enjoy the pregnancy and we then had months left where our money was ours to save and not need to spend on baby stuff.
I like the nursery idea we couldn't do ours early due to the size of rooms and I have too much stuff lol.

😊 Buying Babies R Us made me smile, I can so see why you would do that! Have a few muslins which a friend gave me, but think I'll be needing a few for every room in the house! Prams are totally bewildering... I get overwhelmed just looking at the options.
Forgot done at I wasn't sure about a baby shower but my friend arranged a little get together which was really nice. Definitely recommend having one.
