In agony with reflux I think

15 months ago I was a passenger in a taxi and was hit by another car I suffered with severe whiplash and a wedge fracture in my top part of my back which was missed by the hospital. It has since healed but I started having problems with a tightness in my neck and a feeling of a lump in my throat so my gp put me on ranitidine but didn't work then started me on lansoprozale 30mg. I'm now dealing with a frozen shoulder for the last 8 months I had a guided cortisone injection in the shoulder but I'm left with terrible aches in ribs . I can barely eat drink due to a burning in my throat in my back and I suddenly just feel so unwell like to a point I'm white as a ghost. I take 30mg in the morning and 30mg at night. I've only restarted this 4 days ago and I'm still in agony. I have had a endoscopy 12 months ago all normal and now I'm seeing the gastroenterologists on Wednesday I can't wait as I'm in agony. I was 7 stone 13 before the accident and in now 6stone 9 and trying to eat with this problem is not helping me to put on weight. Please anyone help with questions I need to ask when I go to my appointment. I'm wondering if the pain from my shoulder could be causing this reflux any advice would be appreciated

Try to wean off PPI acid reflux meds asap. If they said your stomach is ok. Stop sugar intake for 4 months your ph acid will balance itself out. The first week will be hell. Wean first as your on am n pm. I got lupus and osteoporosis from acid reflux, a thyroidectomy and now stomach surgery. Stop while you have social media. I was 18 and had a complete hysterectomy, tumors every 9 months. Been sick from ranitine finding out it had cancer chemicals in it. I'm 57, and been through hell my entire life with IBS-C that controlled my social life. Stop now. Its one week of hell verses your life.

Now I'm worried I will start to just use the morning one. I'm at the hospital Wednesday and I was going to ask if it could be a hiatal hernia as the symptoms are what I'm having. How on earth do I try to stop sugar as you find sugar in lots of food I just hope I get some answers

Trixcey, it's usually not advisable to go cold turkey but wean very gradually. Depending on where you live you can buy a product called Gaviscon Advance (must be advance) to take after meals if you are going to wean off ppis etc and during weaning process. It is anti reflux and antacid. I would have give them a bit more time to work though because sometimes it takes a few months for ppis to start working

I did. Cut back little by little. Cheerios fir breakfast. I had to go gluten free processed free lactose ree, yiu don't want to know everything your to young . Don't use substitutes they are worse. Sugar cane is best. Cut back just watch how much you intake. Do you drink lots of soda? Huge No. Ice tea, tons of sugar. I don't know your habits, pay attention so you don't end up like me. Saw you were you, I had to reach out.

I hardly eat so can't understand from the time I get up I feel terrible just had one weetabix with few slices of banana but just feel so anxious in what I'm eating . I haven't taken my lansprozole as I'm sure that makes me feel worse but might take the night one. I can hear my voice gurgling I suppose that that could be the acid. I'm having to swallow to a lot of the time in the morning. The pain between my shoulders I'm not sure where it's coming from but it could be pain from the frozen shoulder I have

Thanks for listening

Did you have an endoscopy? If none of the meds are helping you may need surgery?? If your not happy with your gastro get another opinion. The inbetween shoulders is the acid is coming back up into your esophagus. Theres a sphincter (like a flap) it should be closed off so acid stays where it belongs . People like us our sphincter open, shuts all day and the bile /acid depending comes up . The chest pain hurts depending if we cheated having spice, alcohol, peppermint, sucking motion (candy lozenger) I went to the hospital a few times it was so bad thought it was a heart attack. I am going for surgery the 18th. I can't believe this is from bile and acid. I wish you the best.

Trixcey, please could you advise if the problems with your shoulder were related to your acid reflux. I am having similar issues and waiting to have an endoscopy. Thanks
