Hi I received my CT scan results today and am pleased to say they were positive all good no metastases after 4 years of having my IL surgery the nurse said no evidence of disease 😊 only thing the scan showed was degeneration of my bones ....could this be due to the chemo or my age? I'm 57

Margie I have read that some anti reflux medications can lead to deterioration of the bone.

I would go back to your nurse and ask.

Well done glad the scan was clean you must be pleased.

Great

You may find as I have you can do without them or use them only when you feel you may need some acid suppression ( eating later than sensible for instance)

Ranitidine is a different type of acid suppressant- could be an option maybe?

Your specialist team will have some ideas

I always get acid if I haven't eaten so that reminds me to eat but I will try to do without them I do take a ranitadine too during the day when I get acid the Lanzaprazol doesn't stop the acid so maybe it's worth not taking them as Gaviscon does help too

Hi Magie

its good news that scans are clear, it will make you feel much happier. As to your bone scan, I had one three years ago as l was concerned about the effect of PPIs on bone density. It did show l had early stage if osteoporosis BUT she did stress that most women post menopause showed signs of osteoporosis. I saw my GP who gave me Alondrolic Acid once a week, and calcium tablets daily. She actually said l was probably luckier than most women mu age who didn't know they have the condition, so was having the correct treatment. So look at the positive side of your OC, you wouldn't have had CT scan that shows the osteoporosis whic can be treated with medication 😊 x

Great news Margie. It could be your PPI if you are taking one, like lansoprazole etc.
