Hi Everyone, I am 7 years post I.L. operation. Recently I have experienced severe cramp like spasms, which last a minute or so, when I bend over. I had a similar experience when sneezing. They are sufficiently painful to stop me in my tracks. Has anyone any experience of this or is that just what it is....Cramp!

Sharp Cramp-Like Pain in Abdomen After Sneezing Or Bending Over

Yes 17yrs on and I get a sharp pain when I sneeze or certain movements . The doctor told me it was due to scar tissue .
Hi cat lover, I did get them about 4 years after the op fairly regularly, they were down to adhesions. I had a gall bladder op and they released them as best they could. Now days it happens every so often but as you say they stop me in my tracks till they pass. I just put them down to things being in the wrong place and needing to settle down again.
I am 7.5 years post surgery. When bending over to do up shoes or similar I started getting pain that felt like the ribs on the left side of my body were crossing over. At first they found a small hernia in the belly button area but repairing it didn't stop the feeling. After scans etc I was told it must be scar tissue. Now I mostly avoid it because I have found other ways of doing things. If I need to fasten shoes I put my foot up on a stool so not so much bending. Also try to avoid shoes with laces so fastening is quicker. This may or may not help you as My problem has never seemed like cramp, just a sharp pain that stops me in my tracks and takes a few minutes to get over.
glad you asked because I’ve been getting it occasionally usually if I overstretch or during Pilates. I’m nearly 4 years post Ivor Lewis
hi there, I’m almost 3 1/2 years post op and sometimes get a sharp cramp like pain in the lower right rib area if I overstretch or lift my leg to tie my laces. I reckon it’s associated with scar tissue on the ribcage which can last a long time and be very painful. It’s quick to disappear again. Good luck with a solution! ☺️
Hi there, I get this quite often, just under my breast bone, always catches me by surprise. I've never had it checked out, just thought it was normal. Popsic
Scar tissue is the most likely cause, but personally I would see the doctor to refer you for a scan to make sure there is no hernia. Ignoring it isn't wise. I'm 16 years post op and live life to the full still........but having ignored my symptoms have needed 2 further surgeries for tears in my diaphragm. I'm 16 years post op and still live life to the full .
