coughing, especially during eating and at bedtime

I’ve posted before regarding low blood sugar, but I also wondered if anyone else experiences a tickly cough. This is worst when swallowing, especially foods like fish or potatoes ( I don’t eat meat). It also happens around bedtime when I feel heartburn setting in, but it’s eased by Gaviscon. It’s really hard trying to eat a meal when I’m plagued with coughing fits. At least the food sticking has gone. I’m almost two years past Ivor Lewis surgery.

Yes unfortunately it can be a problem and it still happens me occasionally with certain foods. Try to eat slowly and chew well. If it happens to me I usual take sips of water or a teaspoon ful of honey. Phil

Thanks Phil- it’s funny how fry foods like crackers are easier than moist sometimes. Pasta is hopeless as I just cough constantly. Maybe try the water.
