Hi guys,

Tomorrow 27/10/21 I go into hospital for a tummy stretch and I am petrified, I havnt been told anything about the procedure only that I am going under general anaesthetic, I havnt been told the risks, the benefits or if I can eat normally after, I’ve read it can increase reflux and dumping syndrome both of which I still suffer now, I am 8 yrs post op of Ivor Lewis, any advice or help would be gratefully recieved.

Stressing big time, but I'm sure it will be ok.

I remember one time they went via endoscopy down to look at my lower sphincter to see if it needed a stretch but it was ok - good luck

Hi. It's a pretty standard procedure, I would write down any questions you have and get responses from the nurses or surgeon, the surgeon will most likely think you already know the risks and results as many of us have had this procedure several times. All procedures have risks but compared to what you've already been through this will be like eating ice cream :) best of luck for today and please don't leave the questions til the last minute, we are all here to help

Thank you so much. I'm out now, all done just waiting to see the surgeon, hopefully good news. Will keep you all updated, so good to talk to people in the same position 😊
