Anyone had doxycycline and been fine taking it?

I have been prescribed doxycycline…how can I take it without hurting my oesophagus/Barrett’s/hiatus hernia/GORD? I take 20mg Omeprazole daily

Hi there, I have taken doxycycline many times and I have Barrett’s/ hiatus hernia /Gord as well, I’m on 40mg esomeprazole daily , don’t worry about hurting anything, you’ll be fine I’m sure , itwon’t do anything to any of your conditions , 😊

Thank you so much for your reply, that’s really reassuring…I’m on 20mg Omeprazole daily …have taken the first dose of doxycycline yesterday…felt very sick for about an hour and have had a headache since…but nothing worse, thankfully. 🤞🏻

Hi just wondering if you take doxycycline with food, because if I take them on empty stomach I feel sick, sorry forgot to say 🤞🏻

Yes I did …I avoided dairy as it says on th leaflet that dairy affects absorption, so yesterday I had a banana and a biscuit with the tablets, plus shedloads of water! Still felt really sick but I’m sure it could have been worse without the food to help. Thanks for mentioning it 🙂

Hi,I was prescribed doxy and had to stop taking it.

I have had the Ivor Lewis operation and the doxy made my throat feel like it was ripping and having spasms in my throat.

My oncologist advised me to stop the doxy and thankfully the spasms have stopped since I quit taking it.

That sounds really painful and unpleasant … just goes to show how these drugs affect people so differently, doesn’t it? Hope that you stay well 🙂
