Hi, everyone. I would just like to share the news that the CT scan I had last week was clear and I will not be needing any further treatments.
Apart from the usual peri-operative FLOT and gastro-oesophagectomy, I have just completed a year's worth of Ogivri (Trastuzumab), because my cancer was HER2+.
Today it is exactly 18 months to the day since my initial diagnosis (stage 3 adenocarcinoma of the GEJ), so it is perhaps a fitting occasion to share my good news, as well as express my gratitude for the good health that I will never again take for granted. It has turned out to be a much longer road than I expected (just as well I didn't know that at the time), but it was not as bad as I feared, and I have had marvellous help and support from so many wonderful people - more than I can ever hope to thank or repay.
So, to anyone just starting out, especially if you have HER2+ cancer, best wishes and good luck. Hang in there and keep going! There is light ahead.
