I’m 2 years post Ivor Lewis. One year after surgery I developed a hernia and had further surgery.
From out of the blue I developed a sharp pain under my right ribs and a scan has revealed a Gall Stone. My surgeon suggests surgery to remove my gall bladder.
Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve been so positive throughout all of this but for some reason this has made me anxious and a bit scared..
All your thoughts welcome

I'm 7 years post-op, but at 5 years I was diagnosed with gall stones and am waiting for gall bladder removal (waiting list currently over 52 weeks!). Gall bladders can be caused by sudden weight loss, which would be true in my case as I went from 19st to about 14st very quickly post-op. Nothing to worry about - you don't need a gall bladder apparently. I would recommend diluted apple cider vinegar for the pain, which I know can be excruciating.
Thank you. Make sure you read up on the Apple Cider Vinegar. I only take it when I'm having an attack (a couple of desert spoons in a glass of warm water) and it seems to alleviate the pain, whereas medication never does. There are many benefits claimed for the vinegar, but I would check it is suitable for you before taking it as I am no expert! The one I use is called Willy's and it has some kind of an enzyme in it called 'Mother'. My attacks are very random - I can go for weeks and eat large meals, cake, crisps, nuts, etc., without a problem. Then a lone custard cream biscuit can bring it on a severe attack. Very strange!
Hi there,My gallbladder was taken out before I was diagnosed with Oesphagal cancer. In fact if it hadn’t been for the gall bladder Surgery I probably wouldn’t of been diagnosed so early as I thought it was a complication from that.
I remember the pain well avoid fatty food , red meat and tomatoes they all aggrevate the gall bladder. They can do keyhole surgery, I wasn’t able to have this ,or take out the stones via a camera like the endoscopy.
