Diagnosed with mid-oesophageal diverticulum

Hello everyone,

I've been diagnosed with a diverticulum which is situated on the front left side of my oesophagus. I was hoping to reach out and communicate with others who might have a similar diverticulum.

My diverticulum was discovered during a barium swallow and it's about 2cm in size. I also have a hiatus hernia and duodenitis.

Please feel feel to reply to this post if you'd like to chat further or share your experiences.

Thanks,

Romeo

No, so far I haven’t had the esophageal diverticulitis. The hiatal hernia yes. I actually ‘had it repaired’, but a barium swallow 6weeks or less later showed it still there. The way I understand it now is this is a direct result of my Myotomy. I don’t know if it’s the body’s way of trying to fix something, or just another malfunction. I was told not to try and repair it again, because it will happen again. I know how miserable diverticulitis is in your colon. Is your trigger high fiber too?

Thanks for replying. I'm not sure what my triggers are, the problem seems to be constant. I find that stress makes it feel worse, as does overeating, which I tend to avoid.
