Oesophageal cancer.

I am 73years old have started chemo,for oesophagus cancer which has now been halted due to high temperature, I get all my nutrition through a peg tube cannot take anything through my mouth.what concerns me is if I am sick what happens? I am nil by mouth will I choke?????

No you won't choke.

Try not to think you will be sick, because the feed goes directly to your stomach through peg tube so you don't taste it nor have any feedback as to it going to brains except the fullness etc.

Seldom people on feed get sick.

Assuming you had had OC tumour in the oesophagus and with chemo you have been put on peg tube beforehand as the ongoing nourishment sustainment.

If I were you I will be concerned of the root cause of high temperature rather than anything else. Body is fighting some kind of infection somewhere in the system.

My brother is being fed via JJ tube into small intestine so similar to a peg tube. He had chemo x4 and wasn’t sick. However he did have problems swallowing the extra saliva that was created by the chemo FLOT drugs.

Medication if required is administered through the peg or intravenous.
