I am hoping to go abroad this summer to Portugal. This will be the first time we’ve been abroad since my Ivor Lewis procedure to remove what turned out to be a benign GIST in June 2017. For obvious reasons I want to make sure I am completely covered by travel insurance but my first attempt was met with first a refusal to cover me but after a review they condescended to cover.
I was wondering if any of you out there have successfully got travel insurance and if so perhaps you could let me know with which company.
Many thanks.

I went with ‘insurancewith’ in 2018 to fly to America. Had another operation last year in may and been looking to go to USA again, checked with them and getting a quote of £277 which o don’t think is too bad. I am going to shop around but try them.
Hi, try all clear, they are known to cover most conditions, will be expensive but it is very extensive cover and you can get the price down by deleting cover if the holiday has to be cancelled etc...
Hi. There are some comparison sites featured if you go through the money saving expert website specially for people with Pre-existing conditions. You shouldn’t have any trouble getting cover but I always find that the premiums vary considerably. Good luck.
Hi i had mine with my bank account but they wouldn’t insure the Cancer but everything else.yours wasnt cancer but still an op under three years. I was told Insurancewith. But didn’t use it. I got covered for just the holiday and not the year with another company.
After 3 years i am insured fully annually on my Bank account with AXA. I have had many holidays near and far. my op was 4years this March.
I had mine with my bank and they have covered me for an extra premium for the past 10 years. It was a premier account. If you have held the cover for a while before diagnosis they should cover cancer too
I got insurance with Boots after my treatment ended, family of 4 to Spain was £70 for 2 weeks. Disclosed all my medical history online and didn’t have a problem.
