The oncologist would not say that unless they meant it. Oncologists are brutally honest.

I have been through chemo, radiation, surgery, heart attack, blood clots, sepsis, chyle leaks and the list goes on. I spent 57 days in ICU and my family was told numerous times I would not make it.

I’m here and healthy now, stay positive it’s your best medicine.

I found meditation really helped me and I had never tried it before my operation.

Best of luck and just tell yourself if you are going through hell, keep going!

Janashlin is right, oncologists are brutally honest, if he didn't think it was a good option he wouldn't be trying. Just take it day by day and rest as much as you can. Good luck Sending a huge hug stay with it your over halfway through. Xx

Really good advice by janashlin and liz_crisp.

To be honest staying positive while going through hardship is challenging but not impossible. If you can manage to remain positive on average it's good done. When you are down take it for what it is. Dint think beyond the day itself. A battle a day. That helped me a lot and still after 20 months of coming home from hospital.

There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Unless its second train coming!!!!!!.

Trying humour about your own stuff does help me greatly to win the battle daily. And most importantly spirituality.

Try whatever helps you, to win the battle.

Best regards

Yes, staying positive is what is important and remembering that oncologists are indeed brutally honest.

It is very hard at times but be nice to yourself and try to see the good side of everything. A friend gave me a very pretty hardback notebook and said to record my progress. I did and it really helped. The other thing I did was to collect photos in a cheap albumb of good things happening. [visit from grand children, seeing a whole family of jays on an ealry morning walk on a hot day etc].

I am now going through it again, to a lesser intent, in that 5 weeks ago I had an emergency opp for a large diaphramatic hernia. I was told I could easily have died. Recovery has been complicated by infection [now cleared] Again, keeping positive is hard but helps.

In your situation I would say take one day at a time, even an hour if it helps, take all the help you can get and good luck. I don't know if you have a religion but knowing people were praying for me helped a lot
