Might this have been handle better? Has this happened to you?

I went in for an op on 10th May to have the entire stomach removed because of cancer. During the op it was found necessary to remove my spleen and part of the pancreas as well. After I left hospital my recovery seemed somewhat slower than expected. Within 5 weeks of my discharge I was told that my continuing problems were due to a large stone in the bile duct in the liver though I lost my gall bladder more than 30 years ago . All recent attempts to move the stone have failed and my only option is to have more open surgery . I feel that all the scans and exploratory keyhole surgery should have revealed the stone right from the start.

Regarding "handling things better", I had an Ivor Lewis op and while operating he cut into my Spleen by mistake and had to then remove it. So things happen but only the living complain.
