Hello. My husband diagnosed t3 OC is 9 weeks post IL 6 hour op, which all went well. Out of 49 nodes 7 where cancerous. His healing has gone well and we did all the stages of the diet regime, but last few weeks he can only eat such small amounts prior to coughing which makes him sick mainly bringing up saliva and little bit of liquid food. He's eating less and less and has lost over a stone since the op. Has any one else experienced this? He no longer has a jej. We've seen oncologist and he's due to have endoscopy to see what's happening. But can't seem to find any info on this issue.
Coughing after food: Hello. My husband... - Oesophageal & Gas...
Coughing after food
I also meant to say he has no energy, constantly tired and does nothing but watch tv. Is this the new normal?
Good Morning,
My husband had the same experience, a lot of coughing, mucos that would build up and become a sort of plug. The only relief was for him to throw up. I'm relieved to say that this subsided at about 12 weeks post surgery. Coughing is so much better and the mucos build up only happens about once a week. Hubby is now at 5months and eating everything. I wish your husband well, hang in there it does get better.
Bless you, thank you. It's just such a worry and a relief to hear some good news. We're going back for endoscopy tomorrow, then with Results on Monday. 😃
Yes, I agree my husband had a lot of coughing also. He had an endoscopy and it showed everything was normal...so if your does as well, try not to worry too much. It does subside and then he will eat better and have more energy. Even a bite or two every 30 or 45 min is good...maybe followed or preceded by a hot liquid to break up the mucus? It is discouraging, but it will get better!
The endoscopy showed nothing. All good but they kept him in for more tests and the CT scan showed it had speed to his Liver. I'm numb and in shock. A new day a new fight and a different battle. They won't operate but will give Chemo. Just so sad, for us all, my darling husband and the children. Almost grown up but even so, harder in many ways. Xx
9 weeks post Op is still very early days yet. It takes awhile for the digestive system to get up and running properly again and weight loss is to be expected. He needs to hang on in there and gradually build up. Its not easy and takes a lot of effort and will power. btw theres nothing wrong with sitting watching TV all day. best of luck!
Thank u. The thing is he now has terminal secondary liver cancer. They will give him chemotherapy, offer him trials 'do their best to prolong life' & make him comfortable. He's lost so much weight from I'm just numb and in shock.
Tallulah ^^^^prayers sent for you and your guy. He is lucky to have a warrior girl like you beside him.
Thank u. I don't feel like much of a warrior. But thank u. Xxx
