Hi guys went to see the 2nd surgeon to get a second opinion as requested by my own surgeon ....he said he would get back to my own surgeon he thinks they should try wrapping. Part of my stomach round my oesophagus is this a simple procedure?

For an experienced surgeon it is quite straightforward. The fundus, or top of the stomach, rises above the lower oesophageal sphincter where the oesophagus joins the stomach, so they 'wrap' that fundus around the oesophagus to create a form of valve effect. There are variations in how far round the wrap goes, and it is this judgement that is probably more important than the surgical technique itself. The variations are illustrated in A Patient's Guide to Achalasia which you can download from towards the bottom of this page:
