Hi, Not sure what causes it, but I overcame problem by chewing gum, this activates your saliva glands ,in my case eventually my glands became active and I stopped the gum .Hope this helps

Good Luck

I get a dry throat if I haven't eaten or drunk for a while, a kind of tight feeling.

I wondered whether it's because the new iesophagus is made of stomach and I guess the stomach is always wet, whereas up in the iesophagus area it must dry out.

It doesn't help that I don't drink enough or often enough.

The chewing gum sounds like a good idea.

Do you take lansoprazole? We found out that's what was causing the dry mouth & throat for my partner when he first started taking it. Although no other option for him as he needs the PPI.

Can be chemotherapy / medication, and sometimes after-effects of surgery can affect the saliva glands. How are your taste buds?

Keep drinking, and maintain your oral /dental hygiene as the taste buds often do become restored in time. I agree that chewing gum / stimulation is a good idea.

It might also be worth checking that you have not got oral thrush.

My mouth is like a desert since my op . I've been wondering if it's a side effect from the omneprazole .

There are also a number of other medications that can cause dry mouth. It would be worthwhile to talk to your pharmacist to see if there are any meds, including over-the-counter medicines, that could be causing it. \wc
