Hi sorry to go on again about work....my manager still won't accommodate me, I have requested a timetable change de to pain i get when walking any distance, resulting in having to take painkillers, at the moment i do transport and travel with students with a learning disability and i am finding it painful and tiring plus i do 2 afternoons a week in the kitchen supporting cookery classes which means standing for 3 hours a time, she has said she can only swap 1 cookery class which is not true, all other staff have said they are willing to swap with me so i can stay in college.
this has been the case since i refused to cut my hours to suit management

Hi - not sure if this is an item for this forum but it sounds as if you should escalate your concern? Probably a visit to your GP for obtain his advice might also help
Can you ask for a meeting with her and the person above her too? Have you got any union representation. Speak to the citizens advice bureau too. Go through everything you say above and ask why there is poor flexibility. Good luck, you don't need all this do you. N x
Thank you my union rep has been emailing her and coming to meetings with me but we are getting no where...she knows colleagues are willing to swap with me but she still won't swap me this has been going on for months its making me feel depressed
Marg
Do you have union to turn to ? Also there are rules that the workplace eg employers have to adhere to regarding sickness and cancer sufferers fall into the disability discrimination act. Also if you tell doctor they should sign u off sick
Thank you my union rep has been emailing her and coming to meetings with me but we are getting no where...she knows colleagues are willing to swap with me but she still won't swap me this has been going on for months its making me feel depressed she knows i am covered under the DDA
Sounds like your union rep is too soft as if covered by DDA it is written in law that your work MUST accommodate that. The only reason I say that as I have experienced it myself.Hope all goes well.
Hi, you've had good suggestions already, but try ACAS too. Also, I believe you're entitled to have a colleague with you at such meetings, so ask a sympathetic colleague to accompany you, then he/she can offer alternatives and advice thT colleagues are willing to swap with you.
Also, I've seen posts on Facebook from Macmillan re dealing with employees with cancer, how to communicate and talk about cancer etc, so Macmillan might be able to help or even accompany you or intervene.
Good luck, I'll also ask my HR Manager for her advice and what CIPD would suggest.
My organisation have been good, good sick pay terms and phased return on full pay and thankfully I'm back full time now, although I still have my moments, wobbles etc.
