I was diagnosed last year with osteoarthritis of my right knee after an xray. The gp said I probably have it in both knees but the pain isn't quite as bad in the left. I also have Dupuytrens Contracture in both palms and loads of hard lumps at the BACK of my finger joints, palm-side, inside the creases, as well as some hard lumps at the sides of my thumb knuckles and on the pads of my index fingers.
Has anyone else got Heberden's nodes in the same place? Everything I've read talks about these nodes being on the front knuckles of the fingers.
They seem to be getting steadily worse over the last few months (I am 71 in case that makes a difference).

Hi EmmjayWhen I got of prednisone I was in pain from other things that the prednisone I feel covered up.
One being cronic hip bursitis, arthritis in my hands and dupuytren's disease.
When I got to lower doses the majority of my fingers some worse than others had trigger fingers. I would go for cortisone shots and they would work for 6 mos or so.
When I got off prednisone it got worse and I developed a lump in the palm that was extremely painful.
So between the arthritis, trigger fingers I could barely use my right hand. I had to get surgery for 2 of the trigger fingers and the surgeon went down as far as the lump and surprise I had dupuytren's disease as well.
I'm one of the unlucky ones that it causes pain. With my sister it doesn't and her Palms are all lumpy.
Dupuytren's can lead to trigger fingers. There are things that can be done to reduce the lumps including surgery but personally if not in pain I'd try the other avenues 1st.
You also need physiotherapy for dupuytren's or your fingers will curl and will be harder to use.
Go see your GP and here in Canada I was referred to a hand clinic.
