exercise for arthritis

we all have our own ways of exercising so that our joints are well-supported by strong muscles. Hers what I do.

Ive always walked for thirty or forty minutes a day, most days. When lockdown came it was more difficult because, whilst we were allowed to go out to exercise, there were reports of police stopping you from driving to get to a nice place to do it! And anyway, what do you do if it’s raining! I don’t care for swimming.

So what I did is this (I’m retired).

I searched the NHS website for exercise options for older people - I’m 76 - but found that either they were too long or not vigorous enough. Then I heard about Joe Wicks!

if you go to utube and search “Joe Wicks seniors” you’ll find several ten-minute guided exercises which are really good for us older people who have arthritis. If you can’t do one exercise, well just walk on the spot for a bit! You get, say, 35 seconds of an exercise with 25 seconds rest, ten exercises altogether. It’s all free. I do it six days a week before my shower and breakfast and it sets you up for the day.
