Hi all. I don't know if I am writing this in the correct section as I have a few conditions I think could cause this. I have Fibro, Arthritis, and Scoliosis. At night in bed I tend to have a lot of outer thigh, and buttock pain going round my waist, a long going problem I have had is lower back pain which is down to the Arthritis I think.Does anyone else suffer this?

Sounds like you could have multiple things going on. Arthritis is wear & tear on joints. Have you had your hips X-ray’d? The referred pain in your buttocks & down your thigh could be from that. I had that same thing & my hip needed replaced. I’ve also had my low back fused. Pinched nerves in the back can radiate down the buttocks & in the leg. It’s called sciatica. Have you tried icing it. That can really help. I suggest you see an orthopedic doctor. Sound like it is probably more likely that it’s a pinched nerve in your low back. Just going off my experience.

Thanks, today something in the shower totally hit me. The pain is more to one side of my back, down my left buttock and into the back of my thigh.... Sciatica big time I think. I am thinking of buying a brace.

If it’s sciatica, a brace won’t help. Icing it to get the inflammation down is the best. Sometimes a chiropractor can help. The SI joint can freeze up, get inflamed and pinch that nerve causing that pain.

Yes I’m due to have a hip replacement in 2 weeks. You’ve described my pain very well. My hip joint is pretty much gone from osteoarthritis ; It’s very painful and I can only sleep on the opposite side. I’ve been using lidocaine patches which you can get on Amazon. That does help some.

The hip replacement will change a lot for you, a lot less pain for a start.

Hi

I too have fibro, arthritis and I have PMR too. I do have arthritis in both hips but one especially at night, the G P diagnosed bursitis and injected the hip which helped for a couple of months, I am now waiting for another injection as it has flared again. The pain travels to lower back and top of thigh, especially in bed I cannot lay on that side ..... just a thought?

Best wishes
