Hi there. I never had mabthera but I used to work in day procedure unit and used to be invovled with the medical procedures and rituxamab/mabthera infusion is one of them. What you're experiencing is one of the common side effects and some of these side effects will just go away in time as your body is adjusting to it. So try not to worry too much but mention it to them next time, its still very early and im sure they have started you on safe dosage. If you experience other symptoms though like sings of infections eg,feveror tightness in chest or having trouble breathing please seek medical advice right away. All the best.lizaxxx

Hi there

I am now on my 7th or 8th Ritux infusion and until the last one which was a half dose (they are trying this to see how it goes) have always felt really wiped out for a least a week if not longer. However the good news is that when it has worked I have my life back in those in-between months so people are surprised to hear I have RA. Over the years I have also got my strength back so can walk ad be active again properly. Without Ritux I dread to think how I would be now as had got really bad. So lie back and relax as I am sure you will start to improve when your body is ready. Maybe it's just showing it is really having an effect!

All the best

I am going tomorrow for my 2nd course of infusions and i was so tired after the first one as well. Bit nervous not knowing how it will be tomorrow but it has helped so much although it did take 4 months to work. Hope you feel better soon. x

I had my 1st two last month, and the second one was easier as I knew what was happening. I still felt tired that evening but I think that it was spending all that time in hospital waiting, but the infusion is quicker than the first, and it makes a change for me having hot cups of tea:) I have not felt any improvement as yet with the RA but still early days.

Hi.

I'm just back from my very first infusion. Got to the hospital at 8.00 am and am just crawling back into bed.. I feel really tired and my arm is a bit achy but nothing compared to the RA aches... I'm starting with a headache but don't know if that's the stress and worry of today. I hardly slept a wink last night imagining all the worst case scenarios but hey ho I'm still here!!! Lets just hope this one works for us guys because I certainly could not cope with a 3rd failure.. Good luck to you all and hoping you feel better soon X

Hello again Wilkiebob

Proper reply now as promised. The first two Ritux infusion left me feeling pretty steamrolled for a few days, but not as much as expected. But when I had the second set of infusions I felt really rough afterwards and was just beginning to feel better 2 weeks later when the next infusion was due. I was warned by the consultant that I would feel rough afterwards due to as he put it "B cells dying all over the place"! But I actually didn't feel as bad as I expected after that warning and the after effects did wear off and I have had no other side effects.

I do hope the Ritux helps you - it is helping me now although it has taken a while to have an effect.

It's nice to hear from others on Rituximab too because I don't think there are that many of us on the forum.

Hope you feel better soon.

I have just had my 2nd infusion on Tuesday there and have experienced similar side effects. Have had a bit of a headache for a few days ( which is away now) and felt like I had been hit by a bus. However, a lot of the pain has subsided, so fingers crossed, it can only get better!

Hey all I too have just finished 2nd round of 2nd set and am unusually tired. I slept in this morning. V unusual for me!!

II’ve also found this time round I’ve had this during the afternoons which also involves a feeling of a drop of sugar levels. (Hypoglycaemic type thing). So a quick bit of chocolate and a banana seems to sort mid afternoon! Do hope nothing else is going on. Does anyone else get this?

I’m putting it down to the Rituximab getting to work hopefully and my body getting used to it. Fingers crossed it’s working it’s magic on the RA as I don’t seem to be suffering with much pain but it’s only been a day a two .. fingers crossed 🤞TT
