does anyone ever suffer with a sore throat? i have RA... - NRAS
does anyone ever suffer with a sore throat? i have RA and im on sulfasalazine 5 a day going up to 6 in 2wks.
hi Kaz
if thats you in the picture you look lovely; right then this sore throat, do you get a dry mouth and have you noticed anything differerent with your eyes, itching dry a feeling that you have something in your eye. The dryness may also spread to other more personalplaces.
If one or more of these are symptoms ou have it may be Sjorgens which is an other autoimmune nasty, it can stand alone or come along as a secondary illness to RA, Lupus or any of the 100 or so arthritis.
I took Sulfasalazine for 6 months along with MTX but had no problems with my throat then, i did have very bright yellow wee though. I should give your Rheumy nurse a call and see what they say it won't hurt.
if you recognise the symptoms of Sjorgens get in touch with your GP to be checked out.
Good luck drink plenty of water
Best wishes

Hi, I took Sulphasalizine some yrs ago and don't remember having a sore throat as a symptom though I had every other symptom and had to stop them..
Is it possible you've picked up an infection? Speak to your doctor or nurse you may have and might need a course of antibiotics.
Hope you feel better soon. x
HI, Thank you everyone so pleased you got back to me gunna get on to them asap, ive been on the tabs for about a year now i think! really worries me as i was so scared to take tablets in the first place! thank you all

No sore throat but my kneck swelled up on one side after GP doubled my dose to 20mgs of Sulphasalazine and then the next day I had large lumps all around my ear bone on the other side.. finally turned into an incredibly itchy all over body rash and I had to come off the Sulpha then.
But if you've been on it for a year then that's different of course. Funny because I had a really weird sore throat shortly after starting on the Prednisolone ten days ago - couldn't speak or swallow for a night (hubby delighted no doubt?!) but the next day it was more moderate and then disappeared so never really knew if it was down to the Pred, suspect RA or just a throat bug.
hi all, thank you so much for your help, ive spoke to the RA nurse and she told me to stop my tablets right away! thank you so much
