Hi Kate

RA is a disease that over the course of time changes and consequently drugs can sometimes be less effective. This seems to be quite a common occurrence from my experience.

I started on Infliximab (Remicade), after I had run the gamut of available DMARDs, and this had an almost miraculous affect and gave me back something like a 'normal' life (although I already had some joint damage). After 12 months it lost its efficacy and I was given the chance to change to Enbrel. That was 7/8 years ago and I'm still on it although sadly it's no longer as effective as it once was.

You may be considered for an alternative anti-tnf but this will depend on your current health and the drugs you have already tried.

All the best with it,

Lyn :-)

Remarkably, I was experiencing somewhat of a downslide on my Enbrel a couple of months ago, and I was fearing the worst. I saw my GP 2 days ago, who advised that I stop my naproxen, as my imflammatory markers are really low. I must admit that I've felt a difference over the last couple of weeks. I've felt as if it stopped working for a time, then received a little jump start. I've injected myself religiously for 14 months, and always ensure that the window is empty & site OK. I'm a touched confused, myself, to be honest, as it was very effective from the beginning, ceased to be at all, and now seems to working on overdrive. However, we're all individuals & bodies are different and, as Lyn has said, the body will adjust & modify to medication. I personally feel as if my body if having a joke on me: it will give me a different ability & punchline from one day to the next.

its exactly like I was I have been on Enbrel for 2 years now my inflammatory markers are increasing , consultant said its becoming less effective but worried about stopping this as i had to fight to get on the medications. I hope you get more relief soon
