Prednisone!!!

Hi just wondering what side effects you all suffer from the dreaded pred?

Lol. Your picture there pretty much says it all! I was very cranky. I keep telling myself, a little pain and swelling is worth no prednisone.

yep thats me fat moody cow.... im comind down on dose.. oh blood pressure gets high too!... and periods.. irregular

I've lost the 2 stone i put on since December when I got to 2 .5 mg every other day. It feels great took troucers in etc. Back up to 5mg daily will not take any higher dose, but hoping I can get the jab this afternoon.

not sure as wound from Carpal tunnel not healed. I'm also weepy at the moment, not sure what thats about.!!

Hi Julie, the dreaded steroids, don't take any orally now but have taken many high doses in the past. If I have any now its usually the infusion one which is 500mg given through intravenous iv.

I did have a scare though last year, I was tested for Addisons Disease which is the body's inability to produce adrenalin which is caused by over use of prednisolone. I was given the ok on that but still have to go to the Endocrine clinic every six months or so.

I am on a maintaining dose of 20mg, cant seen to get below this without flaring so bad I cant get out of bed. I have been over the past two years on high doses up to 80mg a day!

My side effects are the dreded Moon face, extra facial hair! Moodiness and weight gain even when I am eating correctly.

I also have shots of it every couple of months.

I have also been told from my Dexa scan that I have Osteopenia thanks to pred!

It makes you feel fab but its the devil in disguise xx

I've never had the Pred for more than a few weeks at a time. I use it as a 'bolt-on' for when things are very bad.

I now know I'm definitely an alien from some bizarre mirror image universe. Every DMARD (I'm on my 4th) I've tried hasn't worked or turned me into a horror character! Yet Pred suits me very well. I LOSE weight! I can lose 5lbs within a week when I take Pred, can you believe it? I do get slight insomnia sometimes but to be honest I usually sleep better because I'm not in pain and I'm not waking up with the pig sweats every half hour.

I'm a freak I think?

Wow pred helps you lose weight! Mine is the oposite even though at first I had an increased appetite now after long term use I am back to a very poor appetite but due to problems pred and little mobility causes Ive still put weight on, before I was given pred I lost 3 stone within 3 months, not by choice by illness and after pred and steriod injections Ive put the 3 stone back on along with another 1 stone thats over 20 months which is scary I so need to get of the pred and am hoping Enbrel starts to work so I can get at least a little mobility back to help me loose some (well loads)
