Had a very productive RA appointment with a delightful doctor, she was very concerned at my lumps, bumps, swelling and pain I was suffering with during my latest flare. Conclusion (knew it was coming) was to introduce me to Adalimumab , had all the various tests needed, waiting on a call now from Siensus to arrange delivery etc, providing head honcho agrees with decision. I'm already on MTX injections weekly.
So would welcome feedback from others on both meds please? How do you balance having to do 2 injections, know Adalimumab is fortnightly, one week?
Have to do the injections a different day so I can see how I respond, bit of a bummer as feels like I'll be knocked out during most of one week?
Is it better to do like I do with MTX, do before bedtime, sleep through worse of symptoms?
It seems alcohol is a total no no on this medication?
Any other suggestions to cope with it is welcome please?
Have a good 'un 😊

Hi I’m on MTX and the weekly biologic benepali. Not sure where you read about the alcohol, it’s generally safe with all biologics, although they recommend not drinking in excess
My rheumatologist said there should always be at least 48hrs between MTX and biologic. Personally I get no side effects from the biologic, so timing is not an issue. Adalimumab Only targets one of many many cytokines, so does not impact the whole immune system like MTX does. I’ve had way less infections since being on my biologic, because my bodies not too busy putting out fires, that it now detects infections sneaking in. If s usually around 7-8 weeks for biologic to start, beteeen test results, the TB one takes a few weeks as it’s sent away, then they need to sort out funding, after which Sciensus will be in touch to arrange a nurse training session, and to supervise your first injection, in case you have a reaction. It can take 3-6 months to see the full effect. Good luck and hopefully it’s the one to settle things down for you 🤞
