I have had a sudden excruciating flare-up of licen sclerosus. Last experienced it years ago. Could my RA be linked to this and what works best to get rid of it? Thanks
Lichen sclerosus anyone?: I have had a sudden... - NRAS
Lichen sclerosus anyone?
Oh bad luck getting that. Yes it's more common on those who have autoimmune diseases like RA, and in post menopausal women apparently. Ask your GP for a suitable treatment.
Unfortunately, like all the lichen types it does tend to recur from time to time. I have had several flare ups of Lichen planus on my body and in my mouth.
Ouch! I'm so sorry to hear that. The best thing to do would be to see your GP as I suspect home remedies to be less effective than prescribed meds. I hope it clears up soon
I have Lichen Sclerosus too. It started a few years ago, i think after RA & type 2 diabetes diagnosis, but i have never thought it could be linked. It flares up every now and then. Go to your GP as they will be able to prescribe cream for you to settle things down.
I feel your pain! I was troubled with this for years but now seems to be controlled, I’m assuming, by Sulfasalazine. My dermatologist at the time said that it is common to get this if you have other AI conditions. The one thing that worked for me in those days was Dermovate ointment, and I always wash that area with Dermol 500.
Thanks everyone. Yes Detmovate is now doing its magic, thank goodness
yes I suffer from this . Sweating can set it off and over bathing . Could it be thrush ? I had a bad flare and Gp referred me back to consultant who swabbed me and found it was a severe case of thrush. First signs of an itch I try thrush meds first and bicarbonate and oat bathing. If it doesn’t help do see consultant. Horrible isn’t it .
Never heard of it until diagnosis. I had very rapid aggressive symptoms and it took time to settle. I’m stable now . Don’t leave it as you know uncontrolled it can cause cancer . Good luck.
