Do I still need to be worried if I have been in contact with someone who has Covid

Well, if possible I’d prefer not be in contact with anyone with covid although my husband who, like me, is fully vaccinated got it earlier in the year, he wasn’t particularly ill and although we took no special precautions really - based on the fact if he had it I’d probably get it too I didn’t get it.

You are at risk of getting it but it may be fairly mild unless you have other health problems. I suggest you test if you start to feel unwell or develop what seems to be a cold/sniffles/cough/temperature.

Do you qualify for antiviral treatment if you test positive? If you are check you know how to access them.

Hope it misses you! Good luck.

it depends what you mean by contact, I wouldn’t worry about it as there’s not much you can do about it now but test if you start to feel unwell. 🤞🏻

Only if you get symptoms.

If you do get any…if you have the NHS Lateral Flow tests at home do the test…..if you don’t have any……call 119,& they will explain what you need to do..

Are you eligible for covid treatments? If so test at the first sign of symptoms and for a few days afterwards (last time I had it I didn’t test positive until day 3 of symptoms). Note that the criteria for eligibility was changed in March. See the section on Imune mediated inflammatory disorders on this document. gov.uk/government/publicati...

In summary to be eligible you need to have had Rituximab in the last 12 months, on steroids >10mg for more than 28 days or have other comorbities. There are a couple of other medications listed but not ones commonly used for RA.

Quite recently my work mate and good friend had it and no one in work got it. She got it at a wedding and a lot of people were mildly ill, I suspect there are people who spread it and people who don't. Either that or there is a short window of time when you spread it. The last time I had it I wasn't I'll at all.

On the other hand a friend of mine with no autoimmune conditions or medication that would make her more susceptible got covid (last week) and it has been horrible for her. She has now lost her sense of smell and taste, she was very poorly for a few days, and still isn't right, her whole body feels wrong.

Some people, because they haven't qualified, are a long way out of vaccination so are getting the full blow symptom picture. She had her last vax 18 months ago.

Hi Sue,

I had Covid a couple of weeks ago, was really unwell, had the treatments via an infusion on the day I tested positive. I’m still not fully recovered and struggling to cope with work etc. I understand that most have mild or even no symptoms but you never know.

I would be but it doesn't mean you will get it. You will just have to wait and see what happens.
