It's a 7 day turn around for rheumatology call backs in Edinburgh. I know that does not help you, but not unusual...Maybe your GP can help in the meantime ?
Call your GP for a steroid course. You cant live like this. It's what i did and after several robust discussions, they gave me a months course of steroids and currently I'm exhibiting at a show and going on a cruise on Saturday.
This time last week I couldn't walk half a dozen steps, move in bed. Nothing. My knee kept locking or giving way. It was horrible.
I called my GP the next day couldn’t get through and answer message said the days appointment were gone and cut me off. This was 8:10 they open at 8. So i called 111 and was given a telephone appointment at my GP. Got oral steroids which have made an improvement but not 100%. Still waiting for rheumatology to call back as GP said they need to review medication. Its 9 days since i was told a nurse will call back in a couple of days.
Just as well i had the sense to call 111 for a good response otherwise I would still be waiting in a lot of pain and unable to mobilise.
Can you send your GP or Rheumy team photos of your knee by email with a covering message? When I did this with my problem hands I got a quick response and was prescribed steroids immediately!
I tried callung GP this morning no appointments left at 08:10 and call was ended. Surgery opens at 8 so called 111 and surgery calling me sometime this morning.
I hope rheumy manage to sort you but as others have said if they don’t get in touch soon see a GP or walk in urgent care service. I’ve rang my rheumy dept too this am who passed me to radiology (because no treatment for me until I have an ultrasound scan). I’ve been informed waiting list is 4-5 months so I’ve left a message with consultant secretary saying I’ve already been unmedicated for two months am I supposed to wait another 4 ? Hope you have a good outcome.
Hi is your knee swollen? If it is try using ice pack.My knees swell a lot I use pack of frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel.I ice for twenty mins couple times a day.It helps with pain and sometimes swelling.Hope you get some help soon.
My knee is slightly swollen so have tried ice packs but doesn’t ease the pain. I have oral steroids from the GP yesterday which has helped with the co codamol.
