What means a high C3 complement and C4 complement (RDL) blood test?

I have extreme fatigue and brain fog for the past three months. Including anxiety and migraines. My blood results shows that I have a high C3 Complement (RDL) of 194 and a C4 Complement (RDL) of 48. What do these markers mean? They are part of my ANA Profile blood test. All other markers are normal. Only abnormal and high is C3 complement and C4 complement.

Sorry, not much help but I’ve not heard of these tests before. The person who ordered the tests is the best one to go through your results with you. Do you have a follow up appointment?

Oh imagine the joy if someone found the answer to fatigue Sylvi, sadly though, the reason for rd’s fatigue is probably different to yours and different to mine. 😞

The complement system is part of the bodies immune response, it's really complicated (i did a bit of it at university and flippin eck it was a nightmare to understand), it's like a cascade / chain reaction, C3, C4 are part of the steps on the compliment pathway (there are lots of steps).

Depending on if they are raised , low or within normal range it can tell medics what your immune system is up to. I *think* levels of these c3 and c4 are tested in people with autoimmune disease and if raised they are an indication your disease is currently active.

Hope this helps.
