Methotrexate and Tinnitus
Not that I’m aware of... been on it 7 years and no tinnitus but that doesn’t mean that it’s not causing your tinnitus. Might be worth getting it checked out!
All the best

I was on Mtx for 7 years with no sign of tinnitus…but 6 years after stopping taking it……I do seem to have developed tinnitus….post the Covid vaccines.Coincidence….. Who knows?
But it’s jolly irritating!
I don't know but I am in my 20th year of mxt and I haven't got it.
Ive been on MX for 11 years and have tinnitus - but mine started before when I was only on Hydroxychlorine and has just never gone away ( though it did get better after stopping hydrox)
Hi jollygoodglyn, I’ve been on Meth for about 5 years (& hydrox) and I have tinnitus but it only started 3 years or so ago. I think mine is possibly ‘stress’ related as it’s been worse over the Xmas period. When I say stress I just mean a change in routine, bad diet etc. But who knows!?
Same. I get it sometimes but it seems to be brought on by stress.
Difficult to recall dates as it was roughly 12 - 15 years ago that I developed mild tinnitus, a couple of years perhaps after starting methotrexate, Difficult to say if methotrexate was the cause as is the case with a number of other drugs suspected of causing tinnitus. One drug that definitely exacerbated my tinnitus to a serious level was hydroxychochloquine...it's stated on the box as a side effect. Rheumy stopped me taking it after I told them about it. I'm convinced the recent introduction of adding a adjuvent to the over 65 flu vaccines also made my tinnitus very much worse, hence my GP has me down to have the under 65 flu jab.
In 12 years of MTX it's not something that's affected me. Though understandably we can blame meds for things which may not be causal & tinnitus can be brought on by a few things, the easiest solved being excessive ear wax. That said a few of the meds we're prescribed do list it as a side effect so working through your prescribed list is probably the first step, see which could possibly be. I do think a visit to your GP is needed, you need to start investigations as to just what the cause is or ruling other conditions like Ménière's out.
I have tinnitus, i was on methotrexate years ago. I now take tacrolimus and i think that is making my tinnitus worse, but just done know!
I’ve been on Mxt for 6 years and I did develop tinnitus and had it for quite a while but it just stopped. At least, I don’t notice it now as it’s quite mild,
I have tinnitus, but I'm not sure what has caused it, my methotrexate or the voltaren. I have got used to it. Sometimes it's worse than other times, it must be mild. Methotrexate settled my joints and voltaren helps me so much, so I am loathe to change anything because of it.
