I’ve been on methotrexate for past 18 months and really suffered with nausea. I have just started sulphasalazine - working up over 4 weeks from 1 x 500mg a day to 4 x 500mg
However I am also on lansaprozole for a hiatus hernia. Notice from info that I shouldn’t take indigestion remedies at the same time as sulpasalazine.
Does anyone know if I can continue to take my lansaprozole before breakfast, alongside the sulphasalazine, or should I take it at a different time of day?
Thanks for your help

I'm on lanzoprazole and sulph and I found out that you need a 2 hour gap between sulph and Lanza otherwise Lanza impairs the absorption of the sulph. I find that tricky as I have to take both morning and evening. Its doable but needs thought.Good luck.
Hi. I have been on Lanzaprazole for many years and have taken many of the DMARDs, including Sulphasalazine. No problems at all. Lanzaprazole is a PPI not an indigestion product, such as Gaviscon or Renee. Hope this helps.👍
I have a hiatus too and I’m currently on prednisone which always manages to give me gastritis so I’m taking lansoprazole 30mg too. I find I have the lansoprazole about an hour before food and then take pred about 30 minutes after food. If I take any of them at different times anything I’ve eaten goes straight through me. I did take lansoprazole whilst on ssz too and just made sure it was taken on an empty stomach which meant having ssz slightly later. I did find that the enteric coating on ssz meant that it was pretty kind to my stomach and hiatus though unlike the pred.
Hi Petal, I notice you have had some replies but if in any doubt please try and contact your Rheumatology team (I know it can be hard to reach them sometimes) but just to double check.
Well hey there Petal61 am not medically trained however I was on Sulfasalazine and Lansoprazole therefore I know you have to have a two hour gap you cannot take them both together take care 😀
