Hi, hope you're all bearing up. Does anyone have discoid lupus in their ears and use hearing aids,
I'm wondering if one of my ears may be too sore, also wondering
about the use of creams in my ear bowl, I get fitted for hearing
aids tomorrow x

Hello I’m not sure what discoid lupus is - I have RA but I am also deaf so might be able to help re hearing aids. If your lupus makes your hearing aid hard to wear because of soreness or constant inner ear infection perhaps you could ask about getting a bone conduction hearing aid (BAHA) in which will avoid your ear altogether. They are fitted via a bolt onto your skull. Sounds horrific I know lol but it doesn’t hurt. I have one and getting it was the best thing that ever happened I didn’t realise how bad my hearing loss was until I got this. I love it and tell kids etc I am a robot. Your audiologist may recommend one anyway Good luck xx
Thank you for your reply, my appointment has been put back a day, discoid lupus is an autoimmune disease that affects the skin, when they rang today, the lady I spoke to will be fitting them, I've made her aware of it, she will decide when she sees me, I've seen the bolt on ones, yes, they look scary but then I saw pictures of children wearing them, with the biggest smile on their faces😁😁they're probably running round pretending to be robots too, all the best, good health to you xx
