Rheumatology in Norfolk UK

Morning Peeps πŸ™‚

I am considering moving house. I am looking at Norfolk, possibly. One of my considerations is my healthcare. I'm pretty established with my GP and rheumatology team and have never been refused for funding for my meds (Metoject, biologics - currently Rituximab) and I'm worried whether I'll get worse service. Do any of you lovely people on here live in that county? If so, would you mind sharing your experiences? I also live within 20 minutes of my hospital. Another concern would be the distance to have to travel for my care.

Hiya Moomin8. Was in a similar position 18 months ago when we considered moving to Norfolk. Well despite reservations re my medical care which had pretty much stopped because of covid and problems with methotrexate we moved to South Norfolk (approx 8 miles from Norwich) exactly one year ago. I can only say the treatment from the rheumatology department at the Norfolk & Norwich University hospital and indeed from my new medical centre has been absolutely great and big improvement on previous care. Takes about 20 mins in car to get there but there seems to be buses straight to the hospital from surrounding areas. The move was the best decision we made despite being in our early 70s and the family who thought we were mad. Just love Norfolk!

Thank you so much for your positive reply 😊It means a great deal to know all will be well if we make the move. Would you mind saying where you moved to? You could private message me xx

I've been at the Norwich hospital for about 11 years now, the rheumatology dept and biologic nurses are absolutely brilliant u will be truly looked after well! I have to travel an hr or 30 miles and it's well worth it in my experience! I have a local hospital but prefer to go here! 😊

Hi Moomin8, we live In Norfolk and I would highly recommend the care at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. They have been absolutely brilliant with me, could not ask for better care. If I ring the specialist nurse line they always get back to me the same day.Come to Norfolk, it is beautiful.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

Hi, I used to live in Norwich until October 2019 and was a patient at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. The Rheumatology Department was absolutely brilliant from the Consultants, Specialist Nurse, HCA’s, Physios and OTs. I can’t say a bad word about any of them. They have a research team and are very proactive. I would say that if you were under the care of NNUH then you would be in good safe hands.
