I am like a lot of you on a biologic. In my case toccillizumab. Do any of you know if I can have the new vaccine as I am worried about the immune response it stimulates.

Hi I’m also on Toci and watching Dr Hilary who has described the vaccine as live ‘ I think ‘ ... will us biologic folk be able to have it ! 😬
How can any of us know the answer at this stage? We are not medics!
I shall try not to get too excited but remain hopeful. I think we will all have to wait until our Rheumys tell us what to do.

Oh I was so excited yesterday, but I've always been told I must never have a live vaccine. 😐. However.. Is the flu one live? As it does seem to affect some people that have it.
The fact the covid one needs to be stored at such low temp makes me think it is different to the flu one.
I'm feeling rather deflated now. My wedding was canx this year and moved to next.. Yesterday I thought it would happen, now I'm back in limbo land lol.

Flu jab is not a live vaccine, so ok for us. But you mustn’t have the version that is given to children by a nasal spray

They have made an RNA spike vaccine so it wont be live. They obviously will have taken into account that us vulnerable are at most risk so will need the vaccine. We can have flu jabs so my chemist said the only problem may be dont have the flu jab the week before the covid jab but that in future they may find a way to mix covid and flu into a single jab .
