Ribs and RA

Hi all It’s been long time since I posted. I have question for you all. Does anyone get lower rib pain that seems to be associated with kidney? I know the cartelage in the sturnum is supposed to be effected by RA but is it likely at the other end of ribs? The ribs are very tender but it’s spread lower down and is acute Very weird. I have already been to casualty before when it happened and I though it was kidney and got the all clear So it’s has to be RA I guess Any similar experiences. I am negative RA with little blood signs of disease. And in flare due to stopping of drugs for bad flu

Best to all

Hello Sallygrain, I too am off meds due to flu/virus and now high liver enzymes. I know what you mean about the rib pain, tenderness, when I asked they told me it was probably from all the coughing I’d been doing over 6 weeks, but not convinced it’s that as I’ve stopped coughing, but have the pain.

I’m not on any RA meds at the moment as the Methotrexate can cause liver problems and I’m waiting for a scan and blood tests, so I’m trying to go without until these are done and I know what’s going on with my liver. I am also seronegative with no blood tests showing ra., but I have disfigured fingers and some toes, OA also, and Diabetes along with a lot of other things.

My neck is now getting painful too, but could be from stopping high dose steroids, only on 7.5 maintenance dose due to Cortisol Insufficiency.

Sorry I’ve not got any answer for you, but if you find any please share.

Take care

I know i have stopped coughing couple of weeks ago. And this has come apon me suddenly too. I am left with googling too much which is dangerous as you find things that scare one!,

Too right, my liver problem is now top of my priority list to find out what’s going on with that, Goole does terrify you if you read too much.

I phoned 999 with pain in my chest as I thought it was a heart attack it was so severe, but all tests came back ok., Costochondritis and musculoskeletal pain they said.

I’ll be seeing RespiratorY Consultant on Tuesday, had to go private as there’s a 6 months wait otherwise. I have COPD, Asthmas, Sarcoidosis and Emphysema and the flu virus I had really messed me up, so weak and tired and fatigue.

Have you seen your GP? Would be advisable if it has suddenly come on.

Take care

I had an unbelievable pain in my ribs (under my boob) towards the side. I could barely move or breath. My Gp sent me to A&E and it turned out to be Costacondritis. More common with RA sufferers but not exclusive. Ibuprofen or such like if you’re allowed to take it. Take care x
