Ineffective Rituximab Infusions Anyone ?
Rituximab is not an instant fix.....it can take almost until your next six monthly set of infusions to start feeling any benefit.
It does sometimes feel as if nothing is happening......then you realise things are getting better.
It really is worth giving it a good try-I have been on it for three years and it is the best treatment I’ve had in 20 years ....you just give up four days of your life every year- for the infusions.....no pills except the odd painkiller-I would definitely recommend you stick it out for a bit.
Might be useful for you to know that my first RTX infusions took about 15 weeks to cut in. Like you I thought they were ineffective at first... maybe give it a little longer? xx
I found the same as AgedCrone , it took till after the second course of rituximab before I noticed the real difference. It might be worth sticking with it . Best wishes, i hope you start to feel better and have a Happy Christmas. Xx
I took part in some early trials with RTX. 3 six monthly sessions - each of 2 infusions - put me into remission which lasted for about 7 years. Now I am retreated when the symptoms return, roughly at 1 - 2 year intervals. I have just checked and the last infusion in January this year took around 3 months to clear my symtoms. Hope this helps?
