Rise and Recliner Chairs - advice needed

Good morning all,

I’ve got to the stage where I need assistance with getting in and out of a chair. I’m looking at rise and recliners. Has anyone got any experience of buying one of these? Any recommendations gratefully received!

:-)

I bought one a couple of years ago when I was going through a prolonged bad spell and was having trouble getting up from conventional chairs because my knees were so bad. Despite the expense, it was/is one of the best aids I've bought and worth every penny as it helped me no end get through a particularly rough patch. Though my knees have long since improved and I am now capable of getting out of my recliner without using the riser mechanism, but if I do this more than a handful of times I can feel my knees starting to play up again so revert back to using the riser. Chairs with dual motors cost more than single motor designs but prices vary widely for both types. I chose a dual motor as it suited my needs more than a single motor chair.

Here's a link explaining the difference between both designs.....

Thank you 😊 where did you purchase yours from?

A small family concern in Cardiff that specialises in riser/recliners. I could have paid less for the same chair online, but wanted to try one out first, which I'm glad I did as they vary in comfort.

It's a fake leather and dual moter and cost me £360! Bargain! M x

I’ve bought myself one as I’m having an operation soon and I know I’ll have difficulty standing after . I bought mind from Argos , their Bradley range . To be honest I haven’t had chance to really get to use it yet but everything seems fine with it , and it wasn’t expensive .

I bought a rise & recline chair when my first THR became infected and had to be removed. I was allowed out of hospital for an afternoon to go shopping for one, but basically chose the one I could afford from a mobility warehouse. It worked perfectly well but, in hindsight, had I spent time choosing, I would have realised they come in different sizes and, as I'm fairly petite, it's too big for me. 10 years on, it lives in the bedroom, just in case it's needed again.

Take time to get one that fits you properly and is comfortable. Mobility shops and many furniture stores now sell them.
